Time to look at scripts

Guys, you have any time over the summer, feel free to peruse the following websites and maybe shoot me some suggestions on what kind of shows I should consider this year. When doing a show search at any of these sites, keep in mind that we are primarily FEMALE, with a possibility of a few supportive male roles. I doubt we will have Josh, (due to band), but, I hope that we will have Dylan. There are some other guys signed up for Drama I, but I don't know if they can even read.

don't ignore me .

Hi guysss !!! i miss you alll greatly. i've been in tallahassee since the day after orientation at Valdosta and everything is great. Sasha took a summer theatre class and so i sat in with her mostly everyday. It was interesting and i knew a lot of stuff the teacher was teaching them (but then again, it wasn't a majors class) THey had books, which were good to read at night and stuff.. and they watched movies in class like "The Piano Lesson", and "Miss Saigon"... which looks like a great piece. At orientation, the day was exhausting yet exciting. I met two performing arts majors.. one staright boy in musical theatre and one girl in production (she's got balls, eh?).. on that day i was the only performance major. We set up our classes and met our department heads. I also met this guy who is already in the theatre program and is a member of their fraternity. He's really cool and we spent a lot of time talking about competitions and different pieces we like. Also, get this, he graduated from Davidson School of Fine Arts. I was talking mad shii in Patriot Players' favor though, no worries. Hmm.. they fed us, if you guys were wondering... 'cause I sure was. Fried chicken, macaroni, green beans, and mashed potatoes with a roll. mmhm. it was nice. Anyways.. i can't wait to see the majority of you in October at GTC. Hopefully, I'll be able to see a show? (hint hint).. anyways... have an awesome summer, and I do miss you Hill. I think about you every night. lmao.

All my Love,
The Redd One.

Casting Forum

Here is a link to a digital story that I made for school this summer. DO NOT ALTER ANY OF THE VOICETHREAD!!

Hi from "The Armpit of Georgia" (a.k.a. Valdosta)

Just a quick thing that I think everybody should check out.. In one of my classes here at GHP, we are reading Anne Bogart's book "The Viewpoints Book". It is about viewpoints (duh, right?), but in one class of doing her exercises I've already learned so much. I hope to tell you guys more about it later, but I've got rehearsal at 7 so I'll talk to you soon! CHECK IT OUT. It's so worth any time you have. All my love,
Abby

Strengths of Possibilities

A few weeks ago, I traveled to the Washington, D.C. area and saw "Lebensraum," a show that tags the possibilities of aftermaths of the Holocaust. It was also performed this past year at ThesCon. A plethora of characters are portrayed with only but three actors, yet at the end of the show... I was sobbing. Now, "Lebensraum" and "Kindertransport" address not only two concepts of WWII, but two time periods (pre- and post-Holocaust), both still chilling an audience.

Clearly, as a director you realize that this could move mountains. With such strong subject material... I only see good things coming from your producing this in the fall. We, as a society are moving into a more graphic era in context to our contemporary realm of theatre.

The dramas always make. That's obvious, but I'm curious to see where the Patriot Players would take this... and my suggestion would be to slam your cast with method, method, and more method. If we thought "Bang, Bang, You're Dead" was deep...

The show in Washington had such vivid imagery solely with their set. It was amazing. I can imagine that contributing to the overall method acting and meaning of the show.

Good luck.

New Members

Guys,

I invited all of the students that I had from last year's class email list. I am missing quite a few that might want to participate in the blogging. However, Austin, Carrie and "music person", who are you by the way? Let me know via email or blog any other players who want to be invited. I need their email to invite them. Also, you three that have subscribed, it is okay for you to post. Slackers.

Kindertransport for One-Act?

Guys,

I am thinking about putting Kindertransport back on the table for possible shows in the fall. It calls for 5 girls and 1 boy. It is set in 1943? occupied Germany. (This would mean accent training before and audition is held.) You can look at some of the pages for the script at google.books. In our SWGWP lesson today we talked at great length about the Holocaust and the events that transpired during the Nazi parties' control of Poland and Germany. I know that this sounds so interesting to you; and it should. Like "Bang", I am pretty passionate about this subject material, too. The roles are very strong, guys, and we will be defending this year. Then again, this could be a GTC piece. Hmmm.....oh, the possibilities. Anyhoo, if you are interested, and right now I guess I am just talking to Austin, look it over and give me some feedback. DO SOME RESEARCH FOR ONCE!! Hope you are all having a great summer. Or, I hope you are having a great summer, Austin. Slackers!!

Director cast in BLOG nightmare

Hey kids. I hope that you are enjoying your summer. You guys are probably a lot more familiar to the blog universe than I am, but, this is one of my grad school thingies. So, here goes. I will be posting different things throughout the summer as far as ideas that I have for the upcoming year. I am getting started early this year because a) we have more competition this year. (I think our motto should be, BEAT PERRY!) and b) I am CONSIDERING TWO one-act pieces for the fall. One for GTC, and one for Region comp. I also have big plans for Drama II and III students, so, let's hope the class makes. Touring, childrens theatre, Thespian conference, etc.
If you think that you will be eligible for Thespian induction in August, please EMAIL your resume to me. Don't post it on the blog.
